Drama Of Xuwei's Unsolved Mystery And Its Creative Elaboration

Through describing an ancient “Unsolved Case” happening in the Shanyin County in the Ming Dynasty,based on the case of “Xu Wei killing his wife”,“Unsolved Case of Xu Wei” conveyed the social atmosphere of “life fleeting like a dream”,strict morality and high political pressure.There were 6 major characters in this drama and these characters with completely different personalities together constituted the major portraits of citizens and officials in the middle and late Ming Dynasty.Centered around the development of the case,the life of each character had changed.The author deconstructed the case of “killing wife” in a drastic and bold way.The “conflicts of will” of characters in this drama reflected their contradictions and disputes.Xu Wei was a dreamer suffering greatly from life tortures and in his heart,his spiritual world was struggling with the secular world.By using the creative method of combining virtuality and reality,this drama aimed to explore the spiritual tragedy of human survival that existed in both ancient and modern times.Besides,by adopting the non-linear narrative method,this drama drew upon the montage technique of film editing and Bertolt Brecht's theory of alienation effect in its choreography and conception so as to achieve the spatio-temporal hypothesis of the stage.
