Previous scholars mostly studied the generic allegation and the specific allegation from the perspectives of semantics,lexicography and so on.There are few literatures from the perspective of TCFL.In the process of teaching,the Writer has encountered the case in which students confuse the hyponymy between the generic allegation and the specific allegation.In addition,many textbooks do not annotate the specific meanings of words,which leads that many students don't know the specific word meaning.Therefore,this paper investigates the beginners,basic intermediate and advanced students on the mastery of the homomorphy of the generic allegation and the specific allegation by questionnaires.Combining the survey findings with teaching experience to put forward some useful suggestions,so as to help students understand the meaning of words accurately and improve their language communicative competence.The paper consists of five parts.The first part doesn't only explain the reasons of the research,the significance of the research,the research object and the research methods,but also summarizes the research status and defines the concepts of the generic allegation and the specific allegation.The second part elaborates the concept of hyponymy.Referring to the word interpretation in Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th edition),the paper exemplifies that the homomorphic phenomenon is existent,and briefly analyses the reasons for this linguistic phenomenon.The third part is to explore the impact of this language phenomenon on TCFL through questionnaires.According to the results of the survey,the fourth part puts forward some contributive advice on English annotations,the compilation of the textbooks and teaching methods.The fifth part is a conclusion,which summaries the outline of the paper,introduces the innovations,and points out the shortcomings and the prospects of the research.
