In the mid-to-late 19 th century, the contrast of the powers of the major capitalist countries in the West changed, which led to the redividing of the colonial powers of the imperialist countries. The most remote glimpse of the world, the South Pacific, became the focus of competition among countries. As a colony of the British Empire,New Zealand, based on its growing economic strength and its unique geographical conditions,is attempting to establish a "sub-empire " in the South Pacific to enhance its overall strength and enhance its discourse in the British Empire colonies. But the process of establishing a "sub-empire" in New Zealand has not been smooth sailing and has had new effects. On the one hand, the British and New Zealand gradually eccentrically departed from Germany, and New Zealand nationalism is on the rise;on the other hand,in the resistance of the islanders, patriotism and national consciousness are revealed, and the colonial struggle for independence is promoted.
