The Study On Character-Form Mechanism Of Egyptian Hieroglyphs

Ancient Egypt has a very long history.Egyptian hieroglyphs are the important component of ancient Egypt.Meanwhile,it is the earliest and also the more systematic self-derived written system like ancient Chinese scripts and cuniform.Egyptian hieroglyphs seem like pictorial signs,but its function are very various.It can be used as logograms,phonograms and determinatives.The feature of Egyptian hieroglyphs is different from ancient Chinese scripts.Many Chinese researchers used the traditional theory called “Liu Shu” to analyze the Egyptian hieroglyphs is limitation.This thesis takes the Egyptian hieroglyphs as the research objects guided by the theories of comparative grammatology and general grammatology.On the basis of previous studies,we analyze its character-form mechanism.It can not only deepen the knowledge of Egyptian hieroglyphs from the perspective of its form,structure,feature and function,but also help us learn Egyptian hieroglyphs efficiently.The paper is composed of four chapters: the first chapter introduces several relevant concepts,including Egyptian language,Egyptian writing system,Egyptian hieroglyphs and character-form mechanism.It also presents the motivation of this subject,the research object and the research method.The second chapter mainly analyszes the feature and function of Egyptian hieroglyphics comparing with ancient Chinese scripts.The third and fourth chapter are the major part of the paper.We study the original graphs from imitating mechanism and absorbing mechanism in the third chapter and analysis the new graphs from transformation mechanism in the fourth chapter.Then some common rules and different features are summarized.
