Chen Li is a very importat scholar in GuangDong in Late-Qing Dynasty.He is a person who mainly staudy the Sinology,but he devoted himself to settling down the hassle of Sinology and Neo-confucianism.He is also interested in Mencius theories.In his book which named Dong Shu Du Shu Ji,he made a detailed analysis of Menciu’s theotries.This paper is majored in Chen Li’s Mencius Studies.This thesis is divided into five parts:Part 1: Introduction.In this chapter,we briefly introduce the experience,the academic thoughts and the academic woks of Chen Li.At the same time,we explain the main research significance,innovation of this study,and introduce the previous studies.Part 2: The background of Chen Li’s Mencius studies in Qing Dynasty.In this part,we will talk about the overall academic background and some general information of the Mencius studies in Qing Dynasty.Meanwhile,we will introduce the academic background of GuangDong province in Late-Qing Dynasty.Part 3: A detailed analysis of Chen Li’s Mencius studies.We will focus on the theory of good nature,KuangJuan,and order and chaos of Chen Li’s Mencius studies.First of all,Chen Li believes that people have good nature do not means they are all good men already,but means that there are something good in people’s nature.Then,He think KuangJuan are most important qualities of people.At last,he think people could make the country more harmonious by learning more.Part 4: A comparative study of Chen Li’s Mencius studies and other Mencius studies in Qing Dynasty.Through the analysis of Chen Li,Dai Zhen and Jiao Xun’s academic thoughts,the similarities and differences above the three are explained.Part 5: Conclusion.In this part,we summarize Chen Li’s Mencius studies.Although he is a sinologist who show less creative idea in Neo-confucianism,he respects Neo-confucianism and has his own thoughts about Menciu’s theory. |
