Research On The Phonetic And Lexical Of Songyang Yuyan Dialect In Wu Dialect Area

This paper is mainly devoted to Songyang County Yuyan dialect which is one of important parts of Southern Wu dialect.The study includes three aspects,phonetic aspect,lexical aspect and geographical comparison with its surrounding dialects.On the basis of field investigation and previous studies,this paper investigates the phonetic and lexical characteristics of Yuyan dialect in detail.Songyang County Yuyan dialect belongs to Chu-Qu area.There are 28 initials(including zero initials),59 finals(containing self-syllables [m],[n])and 8 tones in Yuyan dialect.The regularity of tone sandhi of two-character group is clean(this paper presents the tone sandhi table of the two-character group),and tone confluence is prominent.Literary and vernacular variant pronunciation are rare and scattered.The nicknames presented in the form of children's affixes are rich,but the meaning of the nicknames is ambiguous,it usually have a function to express love and intimacy,especially in terms of kinship terms.The list of homophones in this paper reflects the phonetic characteristics of Songyang Yuyan dialect.Furthermore,this study summarizes the phonological characteristics of Yuyan dialect from four aspects: sound,rhyme,tone and special character pronunciation by synchronic description and diachronic comparison with medieval pronunciation,reflecting the ancient characteristics and diachronic evolution of the pronunciation of Yuyan dialect.This paper also observes and summarizes the lexicon of Yuyan dialect,makesgeography comparison with the surrounding dialects,and investigates the influence of dialect contact and geographical location on the development of the dialect,thus demonstrating the unique features of Yuyan dialect in a more comprehensive way.Southern Wu dialect is a relatively complicated regional dialect,which presents the phenomenon of "People from different place have different languages." Owing to its unique geographical location and topographic characteristics.Based on the ontological study of Songyang County Yuyan dialect,this paper reveals its phonetic and vocabulary characteristics,and investigates the factors affecting these characteristics.
