Qijiguang was a famous military strategist in Ming dynasty,his whole life can be described as “fight north and south”,the first half of his life fighting against Japanese pirates in the south and the second half of life fighting against the Mongolian in the north.Due to his great reputation and fame gained in fighting against Japanese pirates in the south,he became the best successor to save the weakness of frontier and protect the security of the capital.Long qing for two years,he was transferred to the Jizhen and began a 16-year military career against Mongolian.Given the grim military situation on the northern frontier,he adopted an aggressive military defensive strategy to strengthen frontier forces.In particular,training army is the core work,he integrated pragmatism into the training,forge a benevolent army with strict discipline and strong combat capability,it improved greatly the appearance of the army.he creatively build strong and ingenious hollow enemy towers,hybrid power,as important reliance to implement the offensive and defensive strategy,it overcomes the disadvantages of the old war mode,at the same time,he attached great importance to build the intelligence forces,continuously improve the capabilities of intelligence detection and transmission,let military intelligence guide military activities.Qijiguang break the relative isolation of the defensive areas and strengthen the effects of the joint defense and assistance in these areas,enhance the overall defense capability of the entire areas.this paper starts from the background of the time and personal growth experience,focus on the four angles,explore his frontier defense thought to reveal the inner reason of his success in resisting the invasion of Mongolian.
