Van Cappellen’s research shows that religious experiences lead to self-transcendence of positive emotions(STPEs).Greeley(Greeley,1975)found that religious sentiment arises from different initiation mechanisms.Among them, music as a trigger ranked first in the Gliley list and up to 49%.Emotions are a transient psychological and physiological state, including complex emotional responses and changes in the body caused by stimulation. The researchers believe that the type of emotion induced by music is unique. In experimental research,Zentner etc,2008,using a 9-D domain-specific model, spans the full range of musical emotions,so this experiment is based on a music-specific model(Music-specific Emotion Model),combined with a religious experience of the " Self-transcendence of positive emotions "(STPEs)theoretical model,to explore the medieval religious music and medieval secular concerts induced people’s emotions and whether the two compared to medieval religious music will induce a stronger mood?Secondly, according to Juslin’s music clue consistency model,it will further explore whether the rhythm pattern of medieval religious music is related to induced emotion. This study is divided into pre-experiment,Experiment 1 and Experiment 2.The pre-experiment evaluates the internal consistency reliability of the GEMS-9 version, and selects 4 emotional words in the formal experiment which are suitable for describing religious music as well as describing medieval secular music.Experiment 1uses 4 factors mixed experiment design,To explore whether there is a difference between the emotional intensity induced by medieval religious music and medieval secular music, and whether the gender or music professional background will affect the emotional intensity induced by these two kinds of music;Experiment 2 is a mixed experimental design of 3 factors to explore the influence of rhythm freedom and equal rhythm on the mood of subjects in medieval religious music. The conclusion of the experiment is as: 1.The internal consistency reliability analysis of GEMS-9 Chinese version shows that medieval religious music and medieval secular music can obviously induce four kinds of music emotions: "Calm sense","transcendental sense","nostalgia" and "sense of power" in different degrees.2.There was a significant difference between the emotional intensity induced by religious music in the Middle Ages and the emotional intensity induced by medieval secular music, and religious music could trigger a stronger emotional feeling,in which the emotional intensity induced by "transcendental sense" was significantly higher than that of the other three emotions, and was the emotional word that induced the highest emotional intensity in the music emotion of GEMS-93.Rhythm in religious music is an important factor that induces the musical emotion of the subjects, and such rhythmic religious music can induce the "transcendental feeling" of the subjects more than the rhythmic and free religious music.4.In the emotional experience of demographic variables, such as music professional background and gender differences,in medieval religious music, the results showed that there was no significant difference in the emotional induction of medieval religious music and medieval secular music by the background of music majors. However, there are great differences in rhythm-induced emotions, and in the discussion of the rhythm of religious music,it is found that compared with non-music majors, such rhythmic religious music can induce the mood of music majors to be tested.Such rhythms can induce women’s moods more.
