Music, a kind of art loved by man, contains plenty of human emotions. People use the form of music to record events, manifest age features and express self-emotions. People can hear the voice of the times and others’ touching feelings from the musical melody, thus making music a sort of beauty art beyond time and space. And then the form of music and the emotion given in music are combing to sharp the beauty of art. The relation between music and emotion has been a controversial problem through ages in aesthetic theory, especially in the music aesthetic theory. Thus there exists two theories namely "music heteronomy theory" and "self-discipline theory," and two theories reply variously in the question whether music can store and express feelings or not. The following article, on the basis of ancient Chinese and modern western music theory, from those perspectives of musical creation and music performance and recipient, is to state the relationship between music and emotion, and to vertically and horizontally state homogeneous and heterogeneous relations between them. And on the basis this paper will state its social functions and its aesthetic value.Thesis mainly divided into four parts:The first chapter is going to discuss the generation of emotion in music from the perspective of participants. Musical original producers express their self-emotions in the form of music, and then penetrate the self-feelings in the second production, thus forming the real music emotion. Real music emotion is not just the one producer has put into and expected, besides there contains some unexplainable hidden emotions. The relationship between musical consumer’ emotions and music involving three aspects, those are music emotions, consumer’experience and emotional needs of consumers. The consumer and producer would feel the common emotions and even achieve resonance if they have the similar emotional needs or experience. With a special purpose to choose music, consumer would generate one-sided understanding and emotion easily towards music. With different emotional motivations, consumer would have different sentiment experience towards the same music, and even there is no relation with music emotion. Musical individual experience would reflect on the music experience, and emotional memory would interfere with musical judgment of the consumer. As experience of music filled with personal understanding, the emotion understanding differences between participants and music itself perfect the connotation of music.The second part deals with communication between music and human emotion in creation and appreciation. Music is a human specific means of communication. It is difficult to flowing notes give human the direct and clear information because it is no semantic. People through the interpretation of music are aware of music information. The producer input content and emotions in the form of music. Music is emotional expression in the form of externalization. The audience can feel the music in the form of music emotion and communicate with themselves emotions. Owing to music content or form about it’s emotions is similar to audiences’emotions, the audience can experience music in a more accurate emotional and resonate with music and other connection. The relation between music emotion and feelings are not always in a state of similar, more time is both different and similar. Both differences in form or content of the emotions and the influence of other non-musical factors cause that they differ in terms of emotional communication. Therefore music appears more likely interpretation. Music emotion is rough sex, but audience emotions are generated by specific. There appear the phenomenon of a music cann’t describe the feelings of audience, the audience cann’t understand all the emotion of music.The three part focuses on music emotion affecting on the audience’s emotion and behavior in the social function of music. Music based on the audience’s auditory sensory stimuli provoke emotional responses in the audience. For the "trend Wyatt avoid pain" instinctive reaction, audiences tend to stimulate spontaneous emotion getting satisfaction of physical pleasure and emotional satisfaction. Based on the audience to get the physical pleasure, music through emotional reaction influences audiences’disposition, morals and behavior resulting in different social effects. Music carries the cultural and intellectual heritage. Audiences through forms and emotion of music cognitive recorded information in muisc. The music of invisible to expand the audience’s cognitive, shock the audience’s ideas, guiding the audience’s temperament, behavior and effect on the audience. Followed the laws of music with emotion guiding the actions of human, constrain people’s thinking, and using music to stimulate the audience’s aesthetic sensibilities, improving the aesthetic quality of the audience and how your taste.The fourth chapter will present the emotion and aesthetic value in aesthetic activities from the perspective of musical tasting experience.
