On The Characteristics Of Zhang Ziyi’s Film Image From The Perspective Of Cross-cultural

Zhang Ziyi is an actress possessing a relatively high international fame with experience of cross-cultural film creation.Through combing the evolution of Zhang Ziyi’s film images among different cultures,this paper explores the reasons for the evolution of Zhang Ziyi’s film images and the change of her subjectivity as an actress.Based on the analysis of the role cultural conflict and integration played in her cross-cultural creation,this paper summarizes and concludes the characteristics of Zhang Ziyi’s film images.By doing this,the author explores the conflict and integration of discourse as a movie star,a role and a woman in a bid to provide some reference for Chinese actresses who intend to go global in the future.This paper analyses characteristics of Zhang Ziyi’s film images from the perspective of film character image,film star system and the impacts of film culture on the construction of actors’ s subjectivity.This paper is divided into four chapters.Chapter I analyses Zhang Ziyi’s domestic character and explores her subjective expression as a new actress.Backed by her impressive dance skills and hard work spirit,Zhang Ziyi combined the gentleness of dance with the skills of martial arts through which she formed a chivalrous woman image stamped by both strength and softness.This is the first stage characteristic of her film images.Chapter II proceeds to analyze the characters created by Zhang Ziyi during her career in Hollywood,and examine the harmonious construction of subjectivity amid the contradiction between self-expression,industrial requirements and cultural shock,at the same time explore Zhang Ziyi’s international film star image focused on big screen creation in multimedia texts under the influence of Hollywood film star system.This is the second stage characteristic of her film images.Chapter III focus on film images created by Zhang Ziyi after she back to domestic film industry,studying her performance style marked by the combination of her localization and Hollywood experience,exploring her strong desire to express female subjectivity,and theformation of the dialogue mechanism between female self and others.The third stage characteristic of her film images,which is the differences between the character images and the star image both constructed by Zhang Ziyi,enables Zhang Ziyi to gain the acceptance of various audiences at different levels.Chapter IV centers on Zhang Ziyi’s portrayal of film characters in the perspective of Orientalism and the reasons for her failure in portraying characters in the Oriental film market,studying explore Zhang Ziyi’s international film images and audience acceptance under the conflict and integration of others and subjects,introducing the impacts of cultural rights on the construction of Zhang Ziyi’s film images.Zhang Ziyi’s success in international film creation is primarily a result of her film image characteristics.Factors like the chivalrous woman image featured with the combination of dance and martial arts,the international movie star image focusing on the development of big screen as well as the relatively obvious difference between the movie character image created by Zhang Ziyi and her movie star image,made Zhang Ziyi’s film images meet the expectations of the public in artistic appreciation and consumption guidance,and become a model of successful women in the new era.
