A Study Of The Political Discourse In English Translation Of Xi Jinping: The Governance Of China From The Perspective Of Eco-Translatology

In recent years socialist modernization in China has achieved remarkable achievements.China has considerable influence on a global scale in the course of its development.As China's journey to the world,political publicity materials which as an important medium for China's external exchanges,playing a vital role in demonstrating the image of the country,spreading the ruling ideas of the party and state leaders,and establishing a good international image.However,due to the differences between language and culture,the international community is not well aware of China's history and national conditions,and it is often easy to fall into the misunderstanding of China's political claims,especially in Western countries,unilaterally interpreting China's political phenomena and distorting China's political intentions.Therefore,the translation of political discourse materials is particularly important to study.Xi Jinping: The Governance of China contains a series of important expositions since Xi Jinping has served as General Secretary of the Central Committee.He has brought many new ideas,new thoughts and new conclusions of the central leadership group with General Secretary Xi Jinping as the core of leadership.The concepts and guidelines followed by our leaders in governing the country are of great significance to the comprehensive and objective understanding of China's development and China's internal and external political policies.The success of the translation of Chinese characteristic words in political publicity materials is directly affecting China's external exchanges and dissemination,and thus affecting China's international status and national image.Therefore,the study of English translation of Chinese characteristics words in Xi Jinping: The Governance of China has practical significance and innovative value.At present,translation studies of government-sponsored materials are mainly carried out from the perspectives of skopos theory,intercultural communication,communication study,constructivism,and equivalence theory.The emergence of eco-translatology provides a new perspective for the study of foreign-language translation.It proposes a systematic theory and method to guide the translation of political documents from a macro perspective and from the perspective of translators.Based on the theory of ecological translation proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen,the thesis studies the application of ecological translation in the translation of political discourse.Different from other translation theories,the translation strategy advocated by ecological translation studies is not limited to “literary translation or free translation”,“naturalization or alienation”,but from the perspective of macro-ecological environment and study the translator's “adaptation and selection”.The conclusions are as follows: The ecological translation environment of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China has changed,especially the readers and style of the speech.According to eco-translatology,translators should adapt to ecological translation environment and make adaptive selections based on three-dimensional translation principles.From the macro perspective,if translators want to achieve three-dimensional optimality,they should adapt to both the original environment and the target language environment to determine their own positions,attitudes and perspectives,and to grasp the adaptation and The “degree” of choice;at the micro level,the translator should focus on the application of the “reconstruction” strategy in the translation of political documents,and balance “maintaining”,“coordination” and“reconstruction”.
