Moral education is an important content of Confucian theory, and it is a unique educational idea developed on the basis of Confucian thought. As one of the representative figures of Confucianism,Zhu Xi’s moral education thought and practice has a prominent position in the history of Chinese education.Zhu Xi’s thought of moral education has a more concentrated expression in his notes to "The Great Learning".In the preface of "The Interpretation of the Great Learning",Zhu Xi expounds the origin of teachers and the goals to be achieved in different stages and stages of education, based on the view of theory of human nature.Zhu Xi believes that the emergence of Cheng Hao,Cheng Yi and other Confucianism,in fact,is the greatful performance of Song Dynasty,Politics and education are doing well.On the other hand,Zhu Xi implicitly pointed out that moral education can promote the prosperity of the country, the Saint generation.Zhu Xi’s interpretation of the thought of "Xinming" in "The Interpretation of the Great Learning" changes the object of education, and the ideal goal of "The Great Learning" evolves from "Imperial study" to "mass learning",which shows the fairness of education and is rich in cross-epoch significance. To study Zhu Xi’s moral education thought,we must first understand the origin of his thought formation. The background of Zhu Xi’s times, traditional Confucianism,Neo-Confucianism in Song Dynasty and Taoism are the main sources of Zhu Xi’s moral education thought. The characteristics of Zhu Xi’s educational thought are formed under the influence of these conditions and thoughts. The characteristics and methods of education are closely related to the educators’ viewpoints on human nature. The good nature theorists have a more positive understanding of people’s learning goals and abilities.Their education is mainly guided and inspired. The evil nature theorists use more norms and punishments in their educational practice.Zhu Xi’s moral education thought is based on his theory of human nature. He regards human nature as good, and evil exists only because people are affected by acquired temperament.Education is to help people wipe away dust and restore their mirror-like mind, that is,to show their "Illustrious Virtue".In moral education,Illustrious Virtue is not only a standard, but also a law.The process of Illustrious Virtue corresponds to the self-cultivation efforts of the eight items of "The Great Learning" :Study things to acquire knowledge、Rectify one’s heart、Be sincere in thought. This is the common endeavor of both parties in the process of education.Education should first accomplish self-cultivation and improvement, and then urge the educatees to learn self-cultivation and promotion. The latter is the "Xinming" mentioned in "the great learning".They are new people on the basis of self-renewal and self-renewal.Therefore,moral education pays more attention to the role of demonstration, sage, benevolent people and gentlemen as models, and teaching by example to achieve the purpose of education, rather than compulsory and normative. The ultimate goal of moral education is to stop at the best.Zhu Xi believes that the best is the "The final point of the normal development of things" and that the best place is an abstract concept. It is not a place with specific rules and regulations that can be achieved according to the corresponding rules. Therefore,it is a process of continuous exploration and efforts to achieve the goal of stopping the good."Stop" is not to move, such as Yan Hui’s "Long time no depart from humanity",is perseverance.Moral education is different from the education of inculcating knowledge or learning survival skills, and has its particularity in both goal and method. The Confucian thought of moral education has abundant theoretical resources, and many Confucian representative figures have provided rich experience in the practice of moral education, which has laid a solid foundation for the development of the research. There is no doubt about the importance of education, through the study of Zhu Xi’s moral education,we look forward to receiving inspiration and inspiration from the educational thoughts of the ancients,so that we can rethink the advantages and disadvantages of contemporary education, constantly improve and improve the modern educational concept.
