This paper is a report on E-C translation of Shawnee Thornton Hardy's Asanas for Autism and Special Needs.The translation will be published in People's Medical Publishing House.The task is the translation of all the eight chapters of the book.The main content of the book is to introduce yoga poses and breathing to children with autism and other special needs.Taking this book as an example,the paper discusses the problems encountered in the translation of informative text and their corresponding solutions.First,the paper adopts Katharina Reiss' s text typology theory to analyze the features of source text and finds that the main target of the book is to transmit information,which can be categorized into informative text.The main objective of the translation is to faithfully convey the information of the source text to the readers.Reiss' s suggestions on how to formulate reliable criteria for systematic assessment of the target text and the text typology theory are of great significance to the translation practice.Second,the increasingly developed computer-aided translation(CAT)technology is very suitable to translate the informative texts.The paper describes the platform and application of the CAT tool adopted in the pre-translation and while-translation processes.Last,some specific translation techniques are proposed to deal with the problems encountered in the process of translation of such kind of texts,such as use of illustration information and supplementation of incomplete information.The practice shows that,in the process of translating informative texts,pre-translation preparation is particularly important.CAT tool is of great use in translating such type of texts,which can greatly improve the efficiency of work and ensure the uniformity of translation.In the process of translating yoga-related texts,attention should be paid to the interpretation and translation of proper nouns so as to convey the original information faithfully and accurately with reader-oriented standards.
