The food is always a key topic of global concern.During the comprehensive anti-Japanese war period,Guizhou was less affected by the Japanese army due to its geographical location in the southwestern hinter, where was generally stable. After the "the July 7 Incident of 1937",especially after the National Government moved to Chongqing,in response to the government's call for continuing anti-Japanese war,a large number of factories and mines, schools and refugees moved to the "great rear areas" along the railway, highway and waterway.Such movement made Guizhou, who was originally weak in food supply, was even tenser. In order to alleviate the shortage of local food supply in Guizhou, the National Government took various actions, such as producing grain, nationwide saving campaign and food control. These actions achieved good effects at that time.In general, food supply was relatively stable in Guizhou, which promoted the development of local agriculture in Guizhou, met the needs of local people, and enhanced the ability of local governments in dealing with the crisis.Meanwhile, the above actions also provided a lot of assistance to the front line and made a great contribution to the victory of the war. This thesis includes four Chapters. The Chapter One reviews the manifestations and negative effects of the food crisis in Guizhou during the comprehensive anti-Japanese war period. The second chapter analyzes the causes of the grain crisis in Guizhou, from the shortcomings of internal grain production, and the increasing demand for food in the external war environment, and so on,analyzes how the food crisis in Guizhou occurred. These two reasons explained why the food crisis was breakout in Guizhou at that time. The Chapter Three, describes the effective measures taken by the Guizhou Provincial Government and the National Government in response to the food crisis during the comprehensive anti-Japanese war period.Actions taken are as follows: firstly, relevant laws were introduced to implement grain control and strengthen the management of food;secondly, the yield per unit area was increased by promoting advanced agricultural technology;and thirdly, the food conservation campaign was carried out.All of these actions strengthened the management and control of grain in Guizhou province during that period. The last part is Chapter Four, aiming to consider and evaluate the impact that Guizhou Province responded to the food crisis. To a certain extent,it promoted the progress and development of agricultural production in Guizhou, during which achieved the goal of alleviating crisis. At the same time,it supported the Anti-Japanese war and made great contributions to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.However, due to the constraints of the wartime environment, there were still many shortcomings in the measures taken by Guizhou Province at that time.
