An Exploration Of Oriental Images In Ken Liu's Science Fiction

Science fiction is the literature of the age,on the one hand,it is the enlightener of social technological change,on the other hand,it is influenced by science and technology,open the door to the imagination of the universe for people.Nowadays,the narrative core of science fiction is no longer just about technology itself,instead,it uses scientific principles to explore the future of human life under the development of technology,observing the transformation of human nature under the scientific and technological doctrine.After the golden age of the 1930 s to 1950 s,the pace of development of western science fiction gradually slowed down.especially in recent years,the western science fiction literature has been declining,and the science fiction writers are facing the awkward situation of innovation difficulty,the rise of Chinese science fiction writers has brought new vitality to the development of science fiction literature.The writer Ken Liu(1976--)is an outstanding contemporary science fiction writer and translator,enjoying a high reputation at home and abroad.His works are full of humanistic care and combine Chinese classical aesthetics with western scientific spirit,he created the sci-fi aesthetic concept of "silk punk",and showed the characteristic "Oriental image",it presents science fiction literature with unique artistic charm to the world and innovatively promotes the development of science fiction literature in the new era.Ken Liu as a minority,explores his own cultural identity,struggles between his mother country's culture and his host culture,and his pursuit of Oriental Aesthetics in the context of multi-cultural background,it prompted his science fiction creation to present the image of the Middle East.Ken Liu's configuration of the oriental image mainly includes three aspects: the presentation of oriental folk elements,the presentation of oriental discourse narratives and the shaping of oriental ethnic images.Through the above research,we find Ken Liu's call for the return of human nature under scientism and his writing of human desires in modern civilization.Further explore his reversal of Orientalism,realize the modernization of Eastern culture and subtly blend classical aesthetics with scientific spirit.We explore the artistic charm and value of Ken Liu's science fiction novels,and further supplement the research materials of his novels,and hoped that it will be helpful to Ken Liu's research on science fiction and the development of science fiction literature.
