A Report On The E-C Translation Of Safety Assurance System:Air Ambulance Service Operational Procedures(Section 3)

China’s air ambulance service has been in a stage of rapid development.Introducing advanced foreign management experience contributes to the construction and improvement of relevant laws and regulations,and thereby facilitates the sound and smooth development of air ambulance service.Thus,translation studies on civil aviation regulations can provide certain references for civil aviation practitioners.Based on the English to Chinese translation of Safety Assurance System: Air Ambulance Service Operational Procedures(Section 3),this report aims to give a detailed description of the translation process and translation methods.Issued by the Federal Aviation Administration,the source text contains information and guidance to be used by inspectors when conducting special operational procedures for air ambulance operations.As a normative document,marked features of the source text include: abstract lexical meanings,complex syntactic structures,distinct logical hierarchies,and frequent implicit logic.In view of the linguistic features of the source text,the author selected explicitation as the guidance to present abstract or implicit information,implied meanings and logical relationships in an explicit way.This report summarizes certain translation techniques from lexical,sentential and textual levels and explores how to convey the information in a faithful and concise manner on the premise of ensuring the formality and professionalism of the language.Through this translation practice,the translator improved,to some extent,translation ability and hoped the report can give other translators some inspirations.
