Research On Political Thoughts And Activities Of Jiang Zhiyou

Jiang Zhiyou(1866-1929),who comes from Zhuji Shaoxing Zhejiang Province,is a famous poet,folklorist and political activist in the late Qing and Republic of China.Jiang Zhiyou's life experience is very complicated.Not only was he the supporter of Hundred Days' Reform,the participant of the revolution and the mastermind of the constitutional movement in the late Qing Dynasty,but he was also the staunch supporter of the democratic republic after the Revolution of 1911.Jiang Zhiyou's changeable life is an epitome of the change of modern Chinese political ideological trend,so the study of Jiang Zhiyou's political practice and his political thought is of great significance to understand the political trend in the late Qing Dynasty.Jiang Zhiyou lived in an era of new and old exchanges,both as a representative of the late Qing Dynasty and as a representative of new intellectuals in the late Qing and early Republic of China.Therefore,in the process of Jiang Zhi's formation of political thought,it was influenced by Chinese traditional political thoughts,and was also deeply influenced by political thinkers and evolutionary theories during theWestern Enlightenment.Jiang zhiyou's complicated political activities can be divided into three stages based on “ Proclamation of Constitutionalism” promulgated by Qing dynasty in 1906 and the1911 revolution.The first stage was from the middle of 1897 to the preparation of the constitution in the late Qing dynasty in 1906.During this time,Jiang zhiyou carried out reform mainly by running newspapers and running schools.The second stage was from 1906 when the Qing dynasty promulgated the "Proclamation of Constitutionalism" to 1911 when the uprising broke out in Wuchang.During this time,Jiang Zhiyou mainly carried out activities for the realization of constitutional monarchy in China.The third stage was from the 1911 revolution to his death in 1929.Jiang Zhiyou continued to work hard to maintain democratic politics.Jiang Zhiyou's political thought mainly includes three parts: nationalist thought,nation-building thought and party thought.Nationalism is the theoretical basis and an important part of Jiang Zhiyou's political thought.Compared with the views of other political thinkers on nationalism in the same period,Jiang Zhiyou has his own unique views.He associates nationalism with modern patriotism and nationalism,and usesfolklore as a carrier to interpret nationalist views.The idea of ??nation-building is an important part of Jiang Zhiyou's political thought.In his opinion,the most important reason why the Chinese nation has been repeatedly abused since the modern times is that our country is not strong.He believes that if a new country is not created,our citizens will be trapped in poverty,will become slaves,and will become an immoral nation.To this end,Jiang Zhiyou proposed to establish a constitutional state of the union of the Han,Manchu and Mongolian in China.Jiang Zhiyou's view of the party is an important theoretical idea in his participation in the constitutional activities of the late Qing Dynasty.He analyzed the performance of political parties and the relationship between political parties and the government,the country and morality,and thus demonstrated the necessity of establishing a political party for the implementation of constitutionalism.Jiang zhiyou's political thoughts and activities played an active role in promoting democracy in modern China..His nationalism and patriotism can be used for reference in the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.However,due to the limitations of the times,some of his political ideas are bookish,which was doomed to fail in that complex social environment.
