A pronoun is a type of content word,and is one of the highly used word types.In both Indonesian and Chinese,its meaning,syntax and usage are very rich,and of course,there are a series of similarities and differences between that of the two languages.This thesis tries to investigate and analyze the mistakes made by Indonesian Chinese language students of below intermediate proficiency by comparing Indonesian and Chinese language pronouns,hopefully providing useful references for future teaching of Chinese language pronouns.The first chapter researches the definition,classification,grammar and language usage of pronouns in the two languages,also the comparison between the Chinese and Indonesian pronouns and the acquiring of the Chinese language by Indonesian students in terms of pronoun usage,and summarizes past works regarding pronouns authored by scholars and professionals.The second chapter compares Chinese and Indonesian pronouns by their characteristics in three aspects: semantic characteristics,grammatical structure and language usage,discussing the similarities and differences of the pronouns of the two languages.The language data of the Chinese language were taken from the vocabulary list of HSK Level 4,while that of the Indonesian language were chosen from the most common yet standardized form of pronouns,at the same time they have to be very similar in meaning to their Chinese counterparts.The third chapter collects the pronoun usage mistakes made by students of lower than intermediate language proficiency in the language acquisition process by using questionnaire,then analyzing the cause of those mistakes.The questionnaire is comprised in two parts,25 questions total.The first part contains 15 closed questions;the second part contains 10 open questions.Hopefully by sending out these questionnaires,the author can further discover and analyze the sample sentences and find the pronoun usage difficulties faced by students.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the teaching strategies and design for Chinese language pronoun teaching.Examining the causes and types of the mistakes,while combining with the author's teaching experiences,this part provides an effective teaching strategy and design for reference purposes.Despite the miniscule scale of this thesis,the author hopes to advance the cause Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.The fifth chapter summarizes the whole thesis and describe the aspects in which the author still lacks in the creation of this thesis.The author is very happy to receive any constructive criticism from professional scholars,as this will help the author grow.Through this research and analysis,this thesis hopes to further sort out Chinese and Indonesian pronouns systematically.Through comparison,we can see the presence of similarities and differences in a broader way,and improve the teaching of Chinese language pronouns accordingly,so that when Indonesian students study these pronouns,mistakes can be avoided.
