A Report On The Translation Of 2018 Hunan Investment Attraction Plan(Excerpts)

This report is based on the author's translation of 2018 Hunan Investment Attraction Plan(excerpts)when she worked as an intern translator at the ChineseEnglish Section of Hunan Province Translation Center from July 9th to August 24 th in 2018.Hunan Province Translation Center provides multi-lingual translation and interpreting services to the governments at all levels in Hunan Province.During the internship,the author translated a host of government documents.The translation of the 2018 Hunan Investment Attraction Plan(excerpt)is a case in point.In the thesis,the author analyzed the stylistic features of such text and elaborated the process before coming up with a few coping strategies.This report has four parts.The first part is task description,covering the introduction of the translation project,reasons for the selection of urban planning and development text and the analysis of its stylistic features.The second part is process description,including pre-translation preparation,translation procedure,quality control and emergency precautions.The third part focuses on the case study,including strategies adopted in the translation practice,interpretive translation,omission and division,under the guidance of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory.The last part is the conclusion which contains major findings,significance and limitations of the translation and the report,as well as suggestions for further study.This report elaborates on the translation practice of a certain type of text,which is of great significance for future translation alike.Examples are shared in this report with the aim to improve translation skills,better coping with similar urban planning and development text.The author also hopes to offer some useful information for students who are interested in translating urban planning and development text or those plan to work as a professional translator in the foreseeable future.
