On English-Chinese Translation Of Ideational Grammatical Metaphors Incyber Conflict

This thesis attempts to explore appropriate translation strategies of ideational grammatical metaphors in the first chapter of Cyber Conflict: Competing National Perspectives on the basis of its English-Chinese translation.It first elaborates the origin and meaning of the ideational grammatical metaphor.Then it sorts out three types of ideational grammatical metaphors,namely nominalization,verbalization and adjectivization.Meanwhile,the thesis proposes two translation strategies,“metaphorization translation” and “de-metaphor translation”,applicable to translation of ideational grammatical metaphors based on previous metaphor theories.Taking functions of ideational grammatical metaphors and text features of this political scitech text into consideration,the author suggests that “metaphorization translation” be applied to nominalization metaphor,in order to remain the objectiveness and impartiality of the political sci-tech text,and “de-metaphor translation” be deployed to verbalization and adjectivization metaphors,in avoidance of western-influenced Chinese and nonnative expressions.
