Study On The Inheritance Of Traditional Dances "Rou Lianxiang" In Lichuan Hubei Province

Lying on the ground known as Jingchu in Shang dynasty,Hubei is the origin of "Chu culture".Having been the motherland of all sorts of musics and dances since ancien times,it is where the Rou lianxiang(Meat ding,a kind of folk dance where the dancer claps on his arms ceaselessly while dancing)was born.As the younger generation of the folk dance of Tujia minority,Liu shouhong managed to inherit the Rou lianxiang on his own specific way.Instead of falling down like other traditional dances,under the inheritance pattern of Liu,Rou lianxiang rises up like a star and leaves a glorious chapter in the history of Tujia folk dance.Thus it has become a successful exemple of renaissance and survival of traditional culture in the difficult social background nowadays.This paper focus on the research technique of ethnology and culture orientation.It analyzes the historic origin as well as the geographical distribution and theories of function evolution of the Rou lianxiang.Its theory is based on the writer’s twice investigations and interviews in rural areas and other practical researches in Lichuan City,Enshi Province.Through focusing on inheritance,the writer also analyzes and sorts out the pedigree of the Rou lianxiang.By comparing exemples,the paper analyzes Wuxiufu’s way of inheriting Rou lianxiang through forming a system and carrying it out of the remote mountainous area and Liu shouhong’s way of inheriting Rou lianxiang through the Six in plus project respectively and concretely.The former is a representative inheritor on national level and the later is an inheritor on a provincial level.At the end,by analyzing inheritor Liu shouhong’s comprehensive inheritance pattern which consists of seven parts including dancing itself,forms of dancing,advocating performance,televison media,successor of folk dance,inheritance strategy and inheritance expectations,the writer drives a conclusion of the quintessence of Liu’s way of inheriting and gives some suggestions concerning a few questions to refer to.Hopefully through studying the case of inheritance of the traditional folk dance Rou lianxiang,we can provide an example and some inspiration on inheritance pattern for other chinese ethical folk dance.
