Report On C-E Translation On Talk Between Guan Yuda And He Duoling

In recent years,in the context of the “Belt and Road” initiative put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping,China has continuously strengthened its practice with the world and its ties with the international community.The project of Chinese cultural revival has also made the art industry flourish.Many artists have successively established their own studios,gone out of the country to the world and communicated with artists from all over the world.In this context,the need increases for the translation of the interviews made with artists,and this translation project is one of them.This translation report is based on the project “Document Management and Translation of He Duoling Art Museum”,from which a document entitled Talk between Guan Yuda and He Duoling is taken to be analyzed herein.The documents in this project are all interviews with the artist He Duoling and mainly describe his life experience,educational background and He Duoling Studio etc.These files are used to publicize his studio and himself in the international art field.All the texts received and translated are transcribed from audios or videos,which the Author cannot get access to.This report reviews the whole process of translation.It analyzes the linguistic characteristics of the interview and the linguistic features of the transcribed texts.From the perspective of the text typology of Peter Newmark,this report elaborately introduces the pre-translation preparations and the whole translation process,and some typical examples are selected for analysis.The main language features of the source text are fragments of language,large numbers of colloquial sentences and vague language.Therefore,in the process of translating,the Author also uses lots of fragmented sentences and fuzzy language.What's more,the Author also rearranges the logic of the sentences with the strategies of division and reduction,with the expectation to convey the information to the satisfaction of the target readers.In the whole process of translation,the author learns more about the expertise in the fine arts field,practices the information searching ability and is more familiar with the online collaborative platform for the translation work.It is precisely because of the absence of such platform in the process of translation that problems occur in the interim reviewing phase.Through the analysis of the whole process of translation,this report is expected to provide references for other translators in translating similar interviews.
