The Chinese traditional heavy color painting and Tibetan Thangka painting belong to two different branches of Chinese painting art system,both of which present the characteristics of neat and meticulous lines,exquisite moving pictures.As far as painting itself is concerned,its development is inseparable from the integration which results from the Chinese political and economic influence and culture.In the long history of thousands of years,due to the constant exchange and infiltration of Han and Tibetan cultures,The Chinese traditional heavy color painting and Tibetan Thangka painting have absorbed each other under the subtle influence of ideology,culture,politics and religion,showing a thriving development trend.The two have a lot in common,such as in their painting techniques,material content,picture composition,material tools and other aspects.However,as in the process of continuous development goes,they have gradually formed their own distinct characteristics also--in the origin and development of the painting,in the image modeling,the aesthetic taste,the presentation of techniques,in the artistic functions and in many other aspects.At present,at home and abroad,there are abundant independent studies on both of traditional Chinese fine brushwork,the heavy color painting and Tibetan Thangka painting.The meticulous brushwork heavy color painting has a long history and is extensively attended to in China.The study of Thangka painting has always been a hot topic in the study of Tibetan art.Among the numerous literature of Tibetan art research,the study of Thangka painting is one with most abundant materials.On the comparative studies,however,it is not rich in the comparative studies.There have been some literary studies which focus on the comparison of the content,materials and techniques of expression.There are few analyses of religious,cultural differences and political factors in the works.Most studies focus on the art itself of the heavy color painting and on the focus of attention and exploration as well.There are no in-depth studies on some special symbols and image modeling in Thangka paintings.This thesis is a summary on its depth after systematically learning the theory and techniques of Chinese traditional heavy color painting and studying Tibetan Thangka painting.By comparing the formation and development of the two,compering the themes and content,materials and production,picture composition and image modeling,this paper explores the relationship between the two,analyzes the political and cultural factors that form similarities and differences,and puts forward some simple opinions of the author.Hoping this paper can help you understand the development of the two,the relationship between the culture,so as to more comprehensive understanding of the traditional Han and Tibetan fine brushwork,the heavy color painting and Thangka painting.
