TED speeches are widely disseminated all over the world,and more and more Chinese elements are beginning to appear.This paper takes the 50 most representative speeches about China searched by TED official website as the research object,and tries to analyze how they view and narrate China,so as to provide reference for us to disseminate the image of China and Chinese culture.The Chinese elements presented in TED speeches can be divided into three aspects: Chinese topics,Chinese phenomena and Chinese image.China's topic involves cultural,social,ecological,political and economic fields;China's phenomenon includes social,cultural and policy phenomena;China's image is divided into two aspects: a positive image based on rapid economic development and cultural attraction,and a negative image based on environmental pollution and China's threat.These speeches are totally objective and neutral to Chinese elements,but there are deviations in shaping the image of China and China's own expectations.The reasons are due to the differences in thinking consciousness between China and the West,and the unequal dissemination of information.These Chinese elements presented in TED speeches have brought us some thoughts on spreading Chinese culture and telling Chinese stories well,as well as enlightenment on the choice of spoken topics in Chinese international education and the establishment of teachers' image.On the one hand,China should increase the initiative of network communication,disseminate more Chinese voices,update news in time,reduce barriers to cross-cultural communication and tell Chinese stories well.On the other hand,the topic selection of oral Chinese course in international Chinese education should focus on social and cultural topics,increase world-wide topics,avoid controversial topics,and topics should keep pace with the times to meet the needs of students;international Chinese teachers should learn from experience and lessons,eliminate misunderstandings and prejudices in the West,and establish a true and friendly image of China.
