In the Trailblazing Women Lawyers: Lives in the Law,legal historian Jill Norgren collected the oral histories of American women lawyers who have made some changes in the law field.Many of the stories are being told for the first time.As adults,those women were on the front lines fighting for accessing to law schools or getting jobs in the law field.They had challenged the established rules and tried to break through the glass ceiling.Norgren used these interviewing records to describe the profound changes in the late 1960 s,interweaving social and legal history with such women lawyers' life experiences.Since it is a kind of oral history about women lawyers,the author uses many legal terms and culture-loaded words in the book,which has caused thorny problems.Guided by the Skopos Theory,the translator has divided these translation strategies that may be used to tackle such problems into 5 types: Literal Translation,Transliteration,Annotation,Free translation,and Cultural substitution.By translating and analyzing this book,the translator has given some suggestions for other translators on translating the materials that filled with legal terms and cultural-loaded words.In addition to this,the translator has also given some examples of how to exploit Skopos Theory when translating.
