Research On Authorship Analysis For Chinese Weibo Text

Authorship attribution has been one of the most important topics of forensic linguistics for decades.However new challenges arise for the authorship attribution analysis studies under the subject of forensic linguistics.Firstly,for most criminal cases the candidate authors are fewer than a dozen,and the sample texts that can be analyzed are also very limited;Secondly,nowadays a huge amount of texts are being generated online everyday and they are very different from the handwritten or printed documents in many ways,which poses new questions for the authorship attribution analysis studies;thirdly,for the authorship attribution studies in China,it is essential to develop a methodologically rigorous approach to stylistic authorship analysis that can conclude statistically described result that can quantify and describe the analysis result so that it can help with the actual cases,or even be admissible to the courtroom,which would further pave the way for the legislation for the linguistic evidence.The present studys fristly demonstated the comparative authorship analysis method for Chinese authorship attribution:(1)Define the fixed feature set for the authorship analysis;(2)Test for the within-author consistency and across-author distinctiveness of the fixed feature set based on the texts of known author;(3)Test for “the queried texts”;(4)Draw conclusions based on the authorship analysis.Secondly,by establishing the consistency and distinctiveness of five authors’ writing features,the “queried texts” have been successfully assigned to the right authors in two analysis of present studies,which proves the comparative authorship analysis is effective when assigning authorship.And the present study expanded the canditate authors involved for the comparative authorship analysis by providing a multiple authors involved authorship analysis.
