In recent years,the picture book has been accepted by more and more people.It has vivid pictures and refined texts.The use of picture books for parent-child reading and communication has been particularly popular.The use of picture books for language teaching has also been slowly promoted in primary schools.More and more language workers realize that learning languages with picture books can make learners more active and engaged.In this study,four English teachers in a primary school in Shenzhen as a research objects took part in the study and the study lasted for two months.Through interviews and classroom observations,they learned about the English teacher's views on picture book teaching.The study is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly expounds the research background,the current situation of domestic English teaching,the reasons for using English picture book to teach,the theoretical basis and the research questions and significance.The second chapter is literature review,including the definition of core concepts,related research summaries,research methods,and rational of children's cognitive theory and language input hypothesis theory.The third part is based on the empirical investigation of the research objects.It is found that the current primary school English picture book teaching stimulates the students' learning enthusiasm to a certain extent and improves the ability of listening,speaking,reading and writing,it is also found that teachers have insufficient understanding of English picture book resources,they lack systematic training guidance.The fourth part is the important result of this research.Through interviews,the author has a deeper understanding of the current primary school English picture book teaching.This study summarizes the common activities of classroom teaching and the use of picture book teaching to help students with listening,speaking,reading and writing;Secondly,this study gives suggestions for selecting English picture books.Finally,this study's proposes are to design the teaching process according to the characteristics of the picture book and design a variety of English picture book reading methods: it is recommended that the teacher create a teaching situation based on the characteristics of the picture book,use the picture book as a carrier to improve the recurrence rate of core vocabulary and sentence patterns.
