Image Transform In Painting

As a long-standing art form,painting has been impacted unprecedentedly in the era of explosive growth of images.Fortunately,many artists do not reject the help of images,on the contrary,artists derive nutrition from the images that could pushed artists to further think in painting.However,at present,it's lacking that systematic research and Analysis in image transform in painting creation.The artists mostly focus on "practice" and theorists rarely take action.Any isolated research about this subject will make the subject untenable.Tuymans has done a great deal of research and practice in this subject.His research and works are outstanding and he has brought tremendous influence to the art world.His works are closely related to images,and he even can be called an "image painter".Therefore,I choose Tuymans as a case to research image transformation in painting.I hope to sort out a valuable method of image transformation that could supplement and expand this research subject.My dissertation is divided into four chapters.The first chapter briefly introduces the research status,background and research methods.The chapter 2 is discussing the types of referenced images.I have abandoned the old classification methods based on the social function of image.I will classify the image according to the logic that the image whether is direct referenced.The chapter 3 is analyzing Tuymans' representative works to sort out the methods of image transform.It include : reconstructive transform and painting transform.The reconstructive transformation involve the narrative-oriented reconstruction,the intervention of time and the intervention of words.The painting transform involve the "translation of strokes" and the "sense of distance brought by fading".The fourth chapter focus on how to use the method that sort out from Tuymans‘s works in my creation.
