The Ahmadiyya is a relatively liberal religious sect with mixed doctrines in Pakistan. Its political proposition becomes increasingly secular, and owing to its great position in Pakistan,it is hated by other sects.Early in the colonial period, the Sunni faction represented by the Majlis-e Ahrar-e Islam and the Ahmadiyya was in dispute on the doctrines and that whether Pakistan should be completely independent. After Pakistan's independence, the contradictions between those two sects intensified gradually. In 1953,the Ahrar launched a campaign against the Ahmadiyya in Punjab, leading to horrible violent affairs. In addition, this movement have caused a large number of casualties and property losses, which became a turning point of the Ahmadiyya faction. In the 1960 s,during the period of Ayub Khan's administration,to attempt to realize the Islamic modernization of Pakistan,he implemented a series of policies aimed at realizing Islamic modernism, causing dissatisfactions among religious scholars and the majority of Muslims, and being strongly opposed by traditional religious forces.A call for the restoration of traditional islam has become increasingly popular, but eventually it was forced to compromise to religious parties. At the early of 1970 s,the power of religious parties of Pakistan became stronger and the anti-Ahmadiyya movement broke out again. On May 29 th,1974,students in Nishtar Medical College clashed with believers of the Ahmadiyya near Lahore.Because of this,Religious political parties represented by the Islamic Promotion Association launched a nationwide campaign against the Ahmadiyya, exerting a religious fanaticism of the Muslim masses and promoting the government to adopt the Second Amendment of the Pakistani on September 7th,1974.The Amendment declares that the Ahmadiyya believers are non-Muslims.Then,the Ahmadiyya became a religious minority in Pakistan. In the 1980 s,Zia Huck issued a decree about activities of the Ahmadiyya to further restrict their freedom of religious belief and social activities.Along with the process of Islamization,Pakistani Ahmadis are in a worsening situation and are subject to discrimination.
