A Report On The Liaison Interpreting Activity During The World Internet+ Industry Conference 2017

This report is based on the writer's personal experience as a liaison interpreter for an American guest Dan Issacs during the World Internet+ Industry Conference in2017.By using case analysis,it aims to talk about how to improve the quality of liaison interpreters from the perspective of subjective consciousness,which includes professional skills,cross-cultural communication skills and emergency management capacity.This report is divided into five parts: The first part is task description,which mainly introduces the background and brief introduction of the liaison interpretation practice.The second part talks about the pre-interpreting preparations for the task,which includes searching information about the conference,the foreign guests and related expressions.Also,it includes the preparation of the author herself.The third part explains the concept of“subjective consciousness”and takes it as the guiding theory.In the fourth part,the chapter of case analysis,the report explains some issues that might appear in liaison interpretation and offers some solutions.The last part is conclusion,that is,liaison interpreters should not only make preparations before the conference,but also improve their professional skills in daily life.They should be a specialist and a generalist as well,namely they should know everything of something and something of everything.Put it another way,they should be competent bilingually and bi-culturally in addition to cross-communication skills.
