In modern times of China,great confusion has been encountered in the aspects of ideology and culture during the period of modern cultural transformation.Collisions between tradition and modernity,ethnicity and the West have brought unprecedented challenges to the survival and development of literature and art.Faced with the strong influx of western thoughts and the retreat of classical culture,how to maintain the traditional art Chinese calligraphys as its artistic status? How to develop while maintaining the contradiction between traditional and innovation? As a calligrapher with conscious awareness at that time,Shen Yinmo consciously assumed the historical mission of inheriting and promoting the art of calligraphy.Shen Yinmo’s art is closely related to the ecology of calligraphy in the period of modern cultural transformation.This paper analyzed the background of Shen Yinmo’s time and the ecology of the calligraphy circles.From the aspects of art and practicality of calligraphy,“rule” and “disposition” of calligraphy,“popularization” of calligraphy,and inheritance and innovation of calligraphy,this paper analyzed the calligraphy theory and the phenomenon of calligraphy,and explores the scholarly thoughts of Shen Yinmo’s artistic position,aesthetic thought,creative thought,and inherited thought in the modern cultural transition.The first chapter expounded the ecology of the altar of the modern culture and the life of Shen Yinmo’s calligraphy,and dialectically analyzed the challenges and opportunities faced by calligraphy in the modern era,and the experience of Shen Yinmo’s calligraphy in different historical periods.The second chapter discussed the surpassing of Shen Yinmo’s traditional and practical characteristics of calligraphy,the adherence of the calligraphy’s artistic characteristics and the construction of the theory of calligraphy techniques.The third chapter analyzed the contradiction between the aesthetic ideal and artistic creation of Shen Yinmo’s calligraphy,and explicated Shen Yinmo’s aesthetic tendency about valuing “rule” over “disposition”.The fourth chapter discussed the “popularization” tendency of Shen Yinmo in the popularization of calligraphy which is closely related to the “nationalization” of calligraphy and art enlightenment.The fifth chapter expounded the inheritance thoughts of Shen Yinmo’s advocation of Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi,meanwhile,the revitalization of the calligraphy,the limitation of the art bound by rule,the lack of creation,and the inheriting thought of the traditional spiritual connotation of calligraphy.In the above discussion,this article tries to explore Shen Yinmo’s calligraphy theory from the collision and communication between the new and the old,the nation and the west,objectively evaluate Shen Yinmo’s position and influence in the modern calligraphy world,and explore the contemporary value of his calligraphy theory.It also explores the survival state of calligraphy in cultural transformation,and provides inspiration for the development of contemporary calligraphy.
