Abstract/Summary:
With globalization on the rise,China is playing an increasingly important role on the world stage,and friends from all over the world want more and more to learn about China.Therefore,the external communication and development of culture are the general trend of the times.Chinese culture is extensive and profound and enjoys a long history.The translation of academic culture should not be neglected,because it carries the mission of spreading and promoting high-quality Chinese cultural elements.This report is based on the translation practice of three articles in Wang Meng’s Essays on Learning and Culture.The author discussed and expressed what he had seen and heard in the fields of politics,life and culture.His essays cover a wide range of topics,ranging from social issues and life philosophy to book reviews and trivial matters.The report consists of four parts.The first part is the introduction,introducing the main contents of this paper.The second part is the description of translation task,which states the background and process of the translation practice.The third part mainly aims at solving the problems that appeared in the process of translation practice.The theoretical basis for the solution is domestication,foreignization and appropriate translation skills,which are used to express the original author’s intention correctly and improve the readability and cultural transmission of the translated text.The final purpose is to achieve the dissemination of Chinese culture characterized by its breadth,profundity and brilliance.The fourth part is a general summary of the practice,focusing on the application of translation theories and self-reflection.The report aims at making contributions to the translation of Chinese literature and the dissemination of Chinese culture as well as contributing my opinions to the choice between domestication and foreignization in Chinese-English translation.
