On The Translation Of I'm Very Important:Selected Philosophical Prose Of Bi Shumin From The Perspective Of Eco-Translatology

Bi Shumin is one of the most powerful female writers with individuality in contemporary Chinese literary circles,and has made great contributions to the development of Chinese literature.The author chooses 15 representative essays from I'm Very Important:Selected Philosophical Prose of Bi Shumin which have not been translated into English yet for translation practice.Then the author finds that language of these prose writings is close to life and poetic,together with dialects,medical vocabularies,culturally-loaded words and idioms.Moreover,the most important feature of Bi Shumin's prose is that she is good at using various rhetorical devices,including simile,metaphor,parallelism,personification,exaggeration and so on.Eco-translatology is the paradigm of translation studies originating in China with adaptation and selection theory put forward by Darwin as its theoretical basis.It focuses on interrelations and interactions among the translational eco-environment,translation community,and translated version.Multidimensional transformation is the translation method of eco-translatology,which mainly emphasizes on the three-dimensional transformation that focuses on the adaptive selection and transformation of linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension.This report,based on the selected prose writings in I'm Very Important:Selected Philosophical Prose of Bi Shumin and the theoretical framework of eco-translatology,elaborates on the translation strategies and methods adopted by the author to solve the difficulties encountered in the process of translation from three aspects,that is,linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension.The translation strategies and methods used in translation practice are the cumulative results of the author's adaptive selection to adapt to the translational eco-environment.The author tries to transplant the Chinese literary eco-environment to the Western literary eco-environment and make Western readers understand the essence of Bi Shumin's prose so as to achieve the goal of cross-cultural communication.
