Interpreter’s Subjectivity Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

This paper is a practical report on escort interpretation in the Museum of Ningxia University History.The author acted as an interpreter for new American teachers from Pinnacle and new Indian teachers from NIIT,National Institute of Information Technology.The author interpreted the conditions,the history and the characteristics of Ningxia University according to the introduction of the guide.In this escort interpretation,the author studies the interpreter’s subjectivity under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory,based on the introduction of the museum tour guide.The practice report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the task description.It mainly introduces the background and content of the task.The second chapter is the introduction of Interpretive Theory,which mainly introduces the study on the Interpretive Theory,the Triangle Model in Interpretive Theory and interpreters’ subjectivity in Interpretive Theory.Interpretive Theory emphasizes that interpreters should focus on the deep meaning of the source language based on the analysis of the original text,and then choose the output mode according to different contexts and cultures.Chapter three is case analysis.According to the three stages of Interpretive Theory’s Triangle Model,namely comprehension,deverbalization and reformulation,the author analyzes the collected data and reflects how the interpreter’s subjectivity is displayed in several cases.The author also analyzes some cases about the wrong application of the theory.In conclusion part,the author summarizes the findings,limitations and gives some suggestions of this study.
