Application Research Of The Flipped Classroom Model To English Teaching In Primary School

The flipped classroom teaching model is gaining in popularity in recent years with the implementation of the New Curriculum Reform.It rebuilds the teaching procedures by using information technology to provide various learning resources as well as learning guidance to students' autonomous learning before class.Accordingly,the two stages of knowledge instruction and knowledge internalization in the traditional teaching model are reversed,as the teacher-student interaction is promoted substantially in class.Experimental method and questionnaire surveys are applied in this thesis to explore the feasibility of applying the flipped classroom teaching model to English teaching in primary school,compared with the traditional teaching model.The experiment lasts for a term.The participants are Grade four students of two classes from a primary school in Wuhan.They are randomly selected as the experimental class and the control class.By collecting and analyzing the data of the scores of the pre-test and post test,as well as that of the answers of questionnaires survey before and after the experiment,the author has the following major findings:first,the flipped classroom teaching model does contribute to improving the students' academic performance;second,it stimulates students' interest of learning English'and last this model helps to arouses students' awareness of autonomous learning.On the basis of this study,the author also introduces the strategies on teaching arrangement,selection of autonomous learning platform,learning task,evaluation and class teaching and home-school communication,aiming to share with the other teachers who wish to implement the flipped classroom model in primary school English teaching.
