With the improvement of China's integrated nation power and international status,the country and society are increasingly demanding the comprehensive ability of English learners.The five basic skills in English learning are listening,speaking,reading,writing and translation.Among them,English writing has always been the most difficult skill for English learners to master.In recent years,the focus of the English composition of senior high school entrance examination has been greatly changed.It pays more and more attention to the students' comprehensive ability of using language in English writing instead of students' vocabulary accumulation.However,in the practice of junior high school English teaching,teachers do not pay much attention to writing and there is relatively little research on introducing linguistic memetics into the teaching of English writing.Therefore,based on the language meme theory,this study attempts to establish the "reading-remembering-writing-discussion,memetic English writing teaching mode and apply it to the teaching of English writing in the seventh grade,trying to explore an effective teaching mode to improve the writing of junior high school students.Based on the theory and research of language memetics,the author conducted a research on the students of two parallel classes in the seventh grade of Wuhan Boxue Junior High School.This paper used questionnaire,data analysis and other means to conduct a 10-week empirical study.The survey is divided into two parts:a questionnaire survey and an English writing ability test.Two classes participated in the experimental investigation.One of them was the experimental class with 51 people.The other was the control class with 49 people.Before the research,all the students were tested to prove that there was no significant difference on the English writing ability of the two classes.Then,a questionnaire survey of English writing was conducted in two parallel classes.Then,the meme-based teaching mode was applied in the English writing teaching of the experimental class.After the experiment,the experimental and control classes were tested for English writing and the questionnaire was conducted.The author hopes that the questionnaire can reveal the role of individual factors in English writing of the seventh grade students.At the same time,it analyzes the validity of the memetic English teaching mode based on the English writing ability test.The findings of this study are as follows:1)The application of the memetic English writing teaching mode has significant teaching results,which can effectively improve the studente' English writing level;2)The memetic English writing teaching mode can help students enhance the role of individual factors in English writing.It can be proved that it is necessary and feasible to apply the memetic English writing teaching mode in junior high school.On the basis of the above findings,this paper puts forward some suggestions on the teaching and learning of English writing and the evaluation methods of English writing in elementary education,namely:enhancing basic language knowledge,actively reciting and imitating texts,stimulating students' desire to express themselves,and combining text teaching with English writing training,so as to improve the effect of students'English writing.
