Chinese is a language that lacks morphological changes.Chinese language has function words such as prepositions that plays crucial role in Chinese language parts of speech.These prepositions can have multiple grammatical meanings and represent abstract grammatical meanings.In the process of teaching in Kenya,It was found out that there are a number of errors made by Kenyan students in terms of Chinese prepositions.It was also found that research carried out in this scope is limited hence under the guidance of inter-language theory,the paper employs the comparative analysis and error analysis to analyze commonly used Chinese prepositions by Kenyan students that include:zai,gen,cong,dao,dui and gei.This paper first introduces the research theory and scope,methodologies and significance of the research and also briefly summarizes the differences between Swahili and Chinese in Kenya and the acquisition of Chinese prepositions by Kenyan students.The second chapter summarizes the ontology research of Chinese prepositions,which is divided into three parts:definition of Chinese prepositions,characteristics of Chinese prepositions and the usages of Chinese language prepositions.The third chapter analyzes the errors of the above-mentioned commonly used Chinese prepositions in Kenyan students based on self-built corpus,and analyzes the types of errors and the causes of errors.On the basis of the above analysis,the fourth chapter puts forward some suggestions on the teaching of Chinese prepositions in Kenya,including suggestions on classroom teaching and teaching learning materials,and hopes to provide some reference for the teaching of Chinese prepositions in Kenya.
