The Study On The Religious Life Of Jingpo People In The Mengli New Village Of Ruili City

The spread of Christianity in the Jingpo area is a process of its colliding,communication with the Jingpo culture,that is,the Christian indigenization.This thesis will study the Jingpo people in the Mengli New Village,Ruili City,and explore the practice of Christian indigenization in this region by observing their religious lives.Based on the literature analysis and the result of fieldwork,this research focuses on 20 in-depth interviews and ethnographic records,analyzing the Christian faith and life of the Jingpo community in the Mengli New Village.This paper applies religions functional theory and acculturation theory to guide the analysis of the belief motivation,social interaction,religious life forms and festivals of the village,so as to be able to comprehensively explore and analyze the actual expression of Christian faith in the region,the influence of the localization on the social culture and daily life of the believers in the landscape,the opposition and integration of Christian and Jingpo culture and the social function of religion.On this basis,this thesis will ponder on the process of Christian indigenization,and discuss the innovation and problems iii it.This dissertation holds that the development of Christian in the Mengli New village is not only the need for the survival and development of Christian in the region,but also the need for Jingpo culture to adapt to the modernization and foreign culture,it is a two-way relationship.The Christian indigenization will contribute to the integration of Christian and the Jingpo community and its healthy development in the local area.
