The Narrative Paradigm Of Urbanization Documentary Film Since The New Century

This paper attempts to analyze the performance,construction and imagination of the urbanization in China,taking the documentaries of urbanization in China since the new century as the research object.Documentary plays an irreplaceable and indispensable role in the image communication of cities.The term of "urbanization documentary" in this paper refers to the documentaries that take the urbanization process as the characterization object.These types of documentaries have appeared gradually in China since the 1990s.They revealed in the city image in two representational paths:top-down and bottom-up.These two paths are embodied in three paradigms:the narrative of misery,the narrative of return and the narrative of life.These three paradigms represent the reconstruction of the original urban-rural relationship in the process of urbanization,which leads to the alienation of life emotions and social stratification.In recent years,the rise of anti-urbanization phenomenon has also appeared corresponding documentary characterization,but these practices still need to be improved.Documentaries have strong social role,which needs to be considered,reflected and criticized in the process of social development.
