With the rapid development of mobile Internet and the popularization of smart-phones,mobile learning becomes a common phenomenon now.There are many studies on applying mobile technology and mobile terminal equipments into vocabulary teaching both at home and abroad,and the experiments proved to be effective.As a language subject,English vocabulary is so large that any other languages in the world cannot be compared with it.It’s a headache for students to memorize words.As the basis of listening,speaking,reading,writing and translating,however,the master of English vocabulary is directly related to the development of students’ comprehensive English ability.Therefore,it’s a research subject of great practical significance for us to construct effective learning environment and guide students to learn English vocabularies by smart phones in order to make them improve their abilities in listening,speaking,reading and writing.Taking Class 1 of the 2016 accounting class of Jiangxi Applied Engineering Vocational Institute as a research object,the author adopted such methods as document analysis,questionnaire,interviews,experiments to analyze the situation of the vocational students’ using of smart phones to learn vocabulary.Firstly,through questionnaire and analysis,the author analyzed the situation of using smart phones,their attitude towards English vocabulary mobile learning,their requirements of the learning content,learning time,ways of learning,and their difficulties.Furthermore,through face-to-face interview with English teachers,the author learned about the current situation of the English vocabulary teaching and learning and the viewpoints about the English vocabulary teaching of the teachers,and then explored whether it is feasible using smart-phones to learn English vocabularies.Whereby the author creates the teaching modes: the combination of vocabulary learning and mobile learning,classroom and extracurricular learning,individualized learning and group cooperative learning.After a one-term teaching practice,it is concluded that it is effective to apply smart-phones into English vocabulary learning and English vocabulary mobile learning is a new mode to meet the needs of vocational college students. |
