Teacher development,especially professional development,is one of the fundamental factors driving the progress of education.As an important factor of promoting the professional development of teachers,class visiting and evaluating is indispensable to teachers.Many domestic and overseas researches on teacher professional development and class visiting and evaluating exert great significance on theory and practice.Reading the relevant literature,the author finds that few researches are done on the correlation between the two at home and abroad,and there are fewer studies on the correlation of English pre-service teacher class visiting and evaluating and their professional development.Based on relevant research,this paper takes 145 pre-service English teachers as the research subjects and explores the level of pre-service English teachers' visiting and evaluating and their professional development level.On this basis,the correlation between the two is analyzed in order to provide some feasible suggestions for improving the level of pre-service teachers' class visiting and evaluating and promote their professional development.145 pre-service English teachers participate in the study.The study combines questionnaires and interview data to ensure data authenticity and feasibility.Three questions are addressed in this paper:(1)What is the level of pre-service English teachers' class visiting and evaluating?(2)What is the level of pre-service English teachers' professional development?(3)What,if any,is the correlation between the pre-service English teacher class visiting and evaluating and their professional development?This study tries to figure out the level and correlation between pre-service English teachers' class visiting and evaluating and teacher professional development,through detailed analysis,the author of the study finds:(1)The level of pre-service English teachers' class visiting and evaluating is generally sound,but there are problems like lack of preparation before the class and communication and reflection after the class.(2)The professional development of pre-service English teachers has a high level,and the overall level is higher than that of class visiting and evaluating,but some of the pre-service teachers have immature cognition of students' learning and teaching.(3)There is a positive correlation between the pre-service English teacher class visiting and evaluating and their professional development,but there is no significant correlation between the language teacher learning and teacher professional development.According to the results,this paper puts forward some suggestions for improving the professional development level of pre-service English teachers:(1)Strengthen the pre-class preparation and after-school feedback guidance on the pre-service English teachers' class visiting and evaluating so that the pre-service teachers can gain something.(2)Encourage pre-service teachers to actively get close to students,understand students,and understand the characteristics of students' learning so that they can teach more effectively in the future.Meanwhile,inspire them to get close to in-service teachers to get the frontline information of teaching.(3)In the normal teaching process,provide a teaching platform for pre-service teachers,and through the collective evaluation,they can improve the teaching ability in this process.(4)Create an atmosphere conducive to their professional development so that pre-service teachers can continuously improve themselves and improve their teaching in the future.
