A Study On The Flower And Vine Crown Of Bodhisattva In The Northern Dynasty

The first clothes in Chinese traditional costume culture can be divided into three categories: crown,scarf and cap.Although the actual function of crown is gradually weakened,its function of embodying the status of characters and its decorative and beautifying function is gradually strengthened.Similarly,in Buddhist culture,"crown" is also the identification mark of different religious images.In Buddhism,the religious status of Bodhisattva is second only to that of Buddha,and the decoration of Bodhisattva statues is not restricted by many factors such as the "32 phases" of Buddha statues.Therefore,Bodhisattva statues generally show rich Buddhist artistic characteristics,showing the characteristics of beauty,novelty and unique decoration.Therefore,the head crown of Bodhisattva has more artistic and symbolic connotations.Although there is no clear definition of Bodhisattva's crown in Buddhism,it is usually called "treasure crown" or "God crown" to symbolize the wisdom and dignity of Bodhisattva.The author thinks that the flower crown of Bodhisattva appeared more and lasted longer in the Northern dynasty.Therefore,this paper chooses the flower crown of Bodhisattva in different regions of the Northern dynasty as the research object,uses the method of archaeological typology,through analyzing its shape characteristics,classifies the flower crown of Bodhisattva in the Northern dynasty,and lists the time and distribution of each flower crown respectively.Combed the distribution of various types of flower vine corolla in the Northern dynasty and the similarities and differences of Bodhisattva flower vine corolla in different periods.This paper summarizes the decorative patterns appearing in the flower vine crown and studies its special Buddhist connotation.The representative statues of Bodhisattvas in the Northern dynasty were divided and classified according to region and time,and their distribution and continuity were summarized.
