Perfectionism is a stable personality trait that pursues high standards,which is correlated with the mental health.Earlier studies have suggested that perfectionism is unidimensional and has negative effects on mental health.With the development of research,researchers have proposed that perfectionism has both positive and negative connotations.Some studies on medical students show that perfectionism may be an important factor affecting their mental health.As a reserve army in the medical field,the mental health status of medical students is related to the construction of national medical team and the development of national medical and health undertakings.Taking medical college students as subjects,subjective well-being as a positive mental health index,and test anxiety as a negative mental health index,this study investigated the positive and negative mental health effects of perfectionism on medical college students.There are two studies:Study 1:The study explored the mediating effect of coping style on perfectionism and exam anxiety used the he Almost Perfect Scale-Revised(APS-R),the Test Anxiety Scale and the Simple Coping Style Questionnaire in 660 medical students.The results indicated that all dimensions of perfectionism were significantly correlated with test anxiety,and that positive coping and negative coping played a partial mediating role between High Standard and test anxiety,while negative coping played a partial mediating role between Discrepancy and test anxiety.Study 2:The study explored the relationship of perfectionism and subjective well-being used the Almost Perfect Scale-Revised(APS-R),the Satisfaction with Life Scale(SWLS)in 660 medical students,and the Positive and Negative Affect Scale(PANAS)in 660 medical students.The results indicated that the perfectionism of medical students was significantly correlated with a subjective well-being.High Standard could positively predict positive affect and life satisfaction.Discrepancy could negatively predict positive affect and life satistaction,positively predict negative affect.The study came to the conclusion that positive coping style could alleviate test anxiety,while negative coping style will aggravate test anxiety.High Standard had a positive impact on subjective well-being.Discrepancy had negative influence on subjective well-being.
