This thesis is an English-Chinese translation project report. The translation task is originated from the White Sports/Black Sports:Racial Disparities in Athletic Programs by Lori Latrice Martin, which mainly discusses the long-standing racism in American sports realm. The translator selects the seventh and eighth chapters of the book as the translation source text. The seventh chapter analyzes the discrimination of black athletes in the field of golf and tennis combined with historical background and actual cases. The eighth chapter mainly describes an illusion that people are no longer measured by the color of skin in the so-called post-racial and color-blind society, which means racial socialization still has a profound impact on black athletes. The source text of this report belongs to the argumentative genre, the translator deepens the understanding of the translation genre by referring to the relevant parallel text.At the same time, the translator uses Hans Vermeer’s Skopos Theory as a guide to carefully figure out the meaning of the source text, and adopts appropriate translation strategies from the lexical, syntactic and textual levels, striving to present a perfect translation. This report is composed of four parts, including translation task description, translation theory description and its application, translation process description and translation summary.Through this translation project report, the translator hopes that readers can not only understand the racism in American sports realm, but also can understand the importance of fairness in competitive sports.
