| Since ancient times,zhejiang and fujian area have been full of "worshiping ghost and advocating fete",having strong folk belief atmosphere.Taishun county,in the zhejiang and fujian border,has a deep folk belief culture.The folk belief culture in the southern part of Taishun has nurtured a form of folk religion with local characteristics,that is," the Wuxian folk religion" with the Wuxian Spiritual Emperor as the ruler.This folk religion is responsible for the epidemic areas' civil and military religious ceremonies,so it plays an important role in people's lives.This paper takes Zhang's "relief altar" as the main object of study,sorting out its history,development and inheritance system to show the representativeness of this altar.What's more,this paper also takes Zhang's "relief altar" as the starting point to show the ritual of the Wuxian folk religion,the deity system named "Six halls of gods" and the Gaigong religious ceremonies.All of these indicate the rationality of regarding Taishun Wuxian religion as an independent folk religion.The folk religion is often regarded as the folk Taoism,but the emphasis of "religion" and "tao" are not the same.There are hierarchical differences between "religion" and "tao".The two should not be confused.As a type of legal religion in a specific area,Wuxian religion has a complete set of inheritance context,system of spirits and code of conduct,which will be taken as the entry point to specifically discuss the connection and difference between this sect and Taoism,which can be used as some examples to define the relationship between legal religion and Taoism.Taishun Wuxian religion has its particularity,it is less influenced by institutional religion,and the necromancer of this religion — Wangshi becomes the only expert group of local folk religion ceremony.Analysing its existence to the profound influence of the local society,culture,customs and irreplaceability in public life may form the correct understanding of folk religion. |
