| Legend of Heroes and The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai are two novels with high oral level and distinctive features in Qing Dynasty.They are written in Beijing dialect and Wu dialect respectively.The language materials in the books not only enrich the spoken words of social life at that time,but also preserve a large number of dialectal words.It provides us with abundant corpus for studying the vocabulary of Qing Dynasty,and also provides a good sample for exploring the differences between North and South vocabulary in this period.Based on the two books,this paper makes a comparative study of the vocabulary of the two books by referring to other North-South and diachronic documents of the Qing Dynasty,in order to reveal the similarities and differences of the vocabulary of the two books,and to have a glimpse of the situation of the vocabulary of the North-South in the Qing Dynasty.The text is divided into five parts:The part of introduction presents the research object,research content,research status,research significance and methods,and the materials.The first chapter is a comparative study of same meaning of synonyms,focusing on the different choice of common words in the two books.They are respectively“shop” word and “vest” word.The second chapter is a comparative study of homographs.The “homographs”refers to the linguistic phenomena in which the two books use the same morphology but express different meanings respectively.This chapter selects two groups of words:“fawn” word and “gossip” word to make a comparative study.The third chapter is “comparative study of dialectal words”.This chapterexplains some dialectal words in the two books,and explores the situation of the characteristic words in the northern and southern dialects of the Qing Dynasty through point-to-point combination.“Summary” part: through the comparative study of the above three aspects,we can summarize the similarities and differences in the vocabulary of the two books,and think about the reasons. |
