It is full of ups and downs during the past more than one hundred years after the novel the Sing-song girls of shanghai was first published in the late Qing dynasty. As the same as the awful fate of Chansan prostitute in shanghai, the transmission of the novel does not go smoothly as well. There are two meanings of'the flowers of shanghai', one is referred to the Chansan prostitute, the other is the novel the Sing-song girls of shanghai by Han Qingbang. Stemmed from both the origin of prostitute and the backgrounds of Xiaxie Novel, using the related theories of sociology, linguistics, transmission and feminism, the research based on the twice translation of the novel, the scripts and the movie with the first edition, is trying to explain the characters of the novel.In order to further explain the inner meaning of the topic, the chapter one is divided into two lessons. In lesson one, it is discussed two things. One is the history and origination of prostitute, especially the Chansan prostitute in China, the other is miserable fate of the Chansan prostitute and the society understanding according to the novel theSing-song girls of shanghai. In lesson two, it is discussed that the phenomenon and the reasons of the"twice appeared but twice disappeared"during the transmission of the novel The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai. Views of Eileen Chang were mainly quoted. At the same time, it is listed all the editions of the novel and the related arts, such as the Mandarin and English novel by Eileen Chang, the scripts by Zhu tianwen and the Movie Flowers of Shanghai by Hsiao-hsien Hou.Almost all the readers were told that the special relationship between the novel and linguistic is the key to the mysterious world of The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai. Hence, in the second chapter, it is reviewed the artistic reproduction during the transmissions like this: self-choice of Wu language, Mandarin and English-- intralingual and interlingual translation by Eileen Chang and the movie language of Flowers of Shanghai. All the road leads to Rome, it is also clearly that although the language of various editions is different, the core meaning of them is indifferent, they all lead to the attractive world of The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai by Han Bangqing.Absolutely, The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai is belong to the category of feminist literature. In view of feminism, Han Bangqing has the better feminism thoughts and shows his affections to the Changsan prostitute, the other vision that translated and revised by Eileen Chang and Eva Kung is nothing but feminist translation and rewrite. However, it is focused on the concern and nervous of female subjectivity by the lens picture language, such as Long-take and Montage of movie-making, and the beautiful dress language. In this way, from the often-ignored points of view, Chapter three implies the Humanistic Concern and thoughts of feminism in The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai.It is such a special relationship between the Eileen Chang and Han Qingbang's The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai which is not only a precious example but also an open topic during the literature history, especially the transmissions'history of the literature. It would arise much more discussion and concern. However, due to the limit range of this dissertation, it is not be expended in further step. Therefore, it is illustrated that the phenomenon of"smoothly and natural"affected the creation of Eileen Chang in her last period. From this point, it is obviously stressed the artistic quality and canonicity of The Sing-song Girls of Shanghai by Han Bangqing, which is always keeping pace with the times.
