Study On Edgar Morin's Complexity Ethics

Edgar Morin,a French philosopher,wrote Complex Ethics(2004)in the last volume of his masterpiece Method,which explored methods of complexity.He believes that spiritual scarcity,psychological anxiety and ethical crisis emerge with the great development of science,economy and society in the 21 st century.In the turbulence of ethical crisis,everyone has to face ethical contradictions and uncertainties and then makes choices,bets and takes strategies.Edgar Morin uses his complex epistemology to show us the uncertain consequences of moral behavior under the random environments and the inherent contradiction of various moral laws.He realized that the implementation of moral behavior is a game,which requires us to combine moral consciousness with rational consciousness and take appropriate behavioral strategies to strive for moral aims.Edgar Morin believes that being new-born means fundamental reformation of the relationship between human beings,that is,the establishment of a harmonious human relationship which includes the construction of three levels of Ethics: Self Ethics,Social Ethics and Human Ethics.Among them,Self Ethics is the most important.Complex Anthropology lets us know about that individuals have potential multiple personalities.Occasional and special historical conditions lead to the realization of a certain personality,and personality can be changed with conditions which doesn't classify sinners as their crimes for the moment but facilitate their astronomer through pardoning them.Individuals should constantly carry out self-reflection and self-cultivation.By enhancing understanding and encouraging people to pursue the life from material enjoyment and profit-seeking to poetry.What's more,the core of Social Ethics is to cultivate civism and promote the democratic society.In the end,to achieve Human Ethics and to help human beings to step out from the current predicament requires the innovation of society,education and life,and finally brings about the regeneration of Morality.Edgar Morin's Complexity Ethics combined with rational and moral consciousness is based on self-critic personal ethics and gaming in uncertain environment.It's the Ethics putting forward understanding and forgiveness and fighting for realizing human unity and mutual love.
