A Study Of Yangshuo Language Landscape In Guilin From The Perspective Of Linguistic Economics

Language landscape is an academic concept put forward by American linguists in the 1980s.This emerging field has not only become one of the hot topics and important fields in Applied Linguistics and sociolinguistics,but also attracted extensive attention from many disciplines.At present,a relatively complete theoretical system and research methods have been formed in foreign countries.The construction of linguistic landscape is influenced by economic,social,cultural and emotional factors.Language choice of linguistic landscape is a state of linguistic presentation formed by different subjects after weighing and choosing many factors.At the same time,language landscape is a public product.As a visual symbol in the public domain,it constructs visual consumption space through the combination of multilingual codes.For the creators and consumers,the choice and use of language is actually the investment and consumption of the language.Therefore,economic factors are an important dimension that influences the construction of language landscape.As far as the current research results are concerned,the linguistic landscape studies focus on the deep-seated linguistic power,status and ethnic identity behind the text.However,little attention has been paid to the economic and cultural significance behind the linguistic landscape,which needs to be further studied.Therefore,based on the view of language resources and language economy,the starting point of this paper is to explore the economic factors and economic significance behind the language landscape from the perspective of language economics.This paper mainly uses the relevant theories of sociolinguistics and linguistic economics to analyze the current situation of Yangshuo language landscape.Taking the West Street and Shili Gallery scenic spot of Yangshuo as the object of empirical research,609 language landscape samples were collected by means of image collection.Based on SPEAKING model and the theory of place semiotics,the corpus was collated and analyzed.By investigating and analyzing the official and private sectors.The current situation,characteristics and differences of the use of language landscape are more conducive to understanding the local language ecology and language problems.At the same time,it further explores the local language planning,language service level and the social and economic significance behind the language landscape.According to the research ideas,the author divides the article into the following five parts:The first part is the introduction of the article,which includes five aspects.Firstly,the background of the topic is discussed.On this basis,the connotation of the study of language landscape and the current research situation at home and abroad are comprehensively elaborated.Secondly,the theoretical framework,research objects and methods of the study are explained.Finally,the significance of the study is clarified.The second part is a comprehensive description of the current situation of private language landscape,including four parts:industry classification,code selection,dominant codes and fonts.The third part is a three-dimensional description of the characteristics of the official language landscape,including the functional classification of official signs,code selection,code sequence and placement of four parts.The fourth part is from the perspective of linguistic economics to analyze the social and economic significance behind the construction of linguistic landscape in tourist destinations.It mainly includes the influence of the economic attributes of different languages on the language choice of linguistic landscape in Yangshuo multilingual environment,the economic motivation behind the linguistic landscape and the external effects of the linguistic landscape with the relevant core concepts of economics.The fifth part is the conclusion of this paper,which summarizes the research results,research enlightenment and research deficiencies and prospects.
