A Study Of Proper Noun Indonesian Translation Of Jin Yong's Novels

This article carefully analyses the original version of Jin Yong's novel "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" and the Indonesian translation of the novel"Pendekar Pemanah Rajawali";using the literature method,analysis method,contrast method,based on the previous research,this paper furthers the study on the outline translation,uses multi-angle analysis and compares the language characteristics between the two versions revealing cultural differences.To this end,I have done the following work:introducing Jin Yong's martial arts literature works from the perspective of the popularity they receive in Indonesia and from the translation method perspective;understanding the theory,definition and classification of translation methods;explaining the influence of Jin Yong's martial arts novels on Indonesian culture(Chinese learning,martial arts novel creation,chivalrous spirit and word formation in Indonesian language).This paper also analyses the Indonesian language translation of"The Legend of the Condor Heroes"(personal names,place names,martial arts moves,idioms and special nouns).Through this series of studies,I have reached the conclusion that the translation of "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" mainly includes domestication translation(free translation,Paraphrase,Imitation,Variants)and foreignization translation(transliteration,literal translation).Foreignization translation(transliteration and literal translation)is used most frequently,but the best effect achieved in translation is the result of combining domestication and foreignization translation methods.In the process of writing this article,I also put forward my own views and suggestions on Indonesian translation works.
